It feels good to be back at my sewing machine again. I spent part of the day working on covers for the Leuchtturm1917 journal. The first was a little snug, but it works for me. I may end up using it for a travel journal, after adding some elastic to the center.

The second one I made is a better fit, but seems to fit my A5 Notebook better. This particular notebook is a little thicker than the Leuchtturm1917, so the extra width of the cover is accommodating.

Once I have the pattern perfected, I will be adding both the covers and the written tutorial to my site. I have seen several covers for a variety of notebooks on Etsy and Pinterest, but I know by making my own I will be able to use a fabric of my choice. Plus, I will embellish it how I choose.

Knowing there are others out there just like me is why I will be adding the tutorial in addition to finished items. Perhaps you have that perfect fabric, but aren’t sure what to do with it. With some basic sewing skills, you can quickly have a cover for your notebook.

Watch my site and Etsy Shop for the tutorial, which will be available before mid-June. In the meantime, I will soon have some finished covers available as well. The photo is of the second one I made, complete with a bookmark.

I’m looking forward to perfecting the pattern so you can use up that perfect fabric.
